Gas-head's in seventh heaven as Robinson faces Rowett dilemma

At the time of the most recent publishing of figures in football, turnover, profit and all that nonsense Burton Albion were performing rather well for a small side in a time where even sides such as Barcelona are in X-amount of debt and some club's even facing extinction altogether due to spending money that they simply do not have. So all is rosy off the pitch for now, on it however, is a different matter entirely. The sacking of Paul Peschisolido after a nightmare start to 2012 has done little to ease the anguish of the Burton faithful. Gary Rowett, Peschisolido's assistant during his time at the club, has taken the rein's along with a side dreadfully low on confidence and quality with injuries to key players, particularly in attack, doing little to aid the survival bid.

Despite all this Rowett has steadied the ship and relief all around was clear to see when the Brewer's secured their football league status for another season following victory on monday against Morecambe. Pre-match Rowett declared his interest in taking on the manager's job full time after securing the clubs league two status, a declaration that has divided opinion with the fans.

Those fans in particular who made the long journey west to Bristol today (saturday 14/4/12) to see the latest smudge on Rowett's C.V, a 7-1 defeat to a Rover's side level in the table with Albion at the start of play, may feel a new appointment is the logical choice. Chairman Ben Robinson appears to have his cards very close to his chest only speaking so far as to confirm Rowett will be monitored until the end of the season and that interest in the job is on a high level.

The points in Rowett's favour include the rejuvination of the side in a crucial period to achieve safety, including a hard-fought draw against high-fliers Crawley. Today's events seem to signify that although the leak has been plugged temporarily, the pressure is still building up. The names are out there as are the idea's which is what the club needs. Rowett is still very much a part of the regime that has gone before and although the rot has temporarily been stopped it's difficult to be convinced that change is going to be continual,

To conclude, Ben Robinson has a difficult decision but at the right time, a summer period whereby a transfer window will open, pre-season matches act as dress rehearsals and time to implement a system to take the playing side forward all points to a new man being recruited. Rowett will no doubt be a success as a coach either continuing at Burton or further afield and possibly a good manager in the future, as for now, it just isn't the right time.
